Great BBQ!!!! Haven't had BBQ like this since I spent time in Dallas...I am still thinking about the ribs!

This is our fifth time dining at Virgil's (we make one or two annual visits to NYC) and the food is always of high quality and very well prepared. We love it and always recommend it to friends. We will continue coming!!

The service, food and atmosphere was excellent. I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday at Virgil's, and have recommended the restaurant to all of my friends.

Of all the restaurants my group ate at during our five day trip to New York, VIRGILS was voted the BEST IN ALL CATEGORIES! The variety of food, the attentive and not rushed service, the flavors, location, and the fact it wasn't a chain restaurant. Parents and kids alike were still talking about your place last night as we arrived back in Hastings. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Went to Virgil's to celebrate our son's 21st on St. Patrick's Day. Portions were huge (forgotten how huge portions were in America) and we had to take doggy bag back to the hotel. Our waitress was in training but she did an excellent job. Staff sang happy birthday much to my son's embarrassment. Would certainly go again if we're in New York.

We've been to Virgil's dozens of times over the last few years and love, love, love it. Delicious food -- I almost always have the fried chicken or catfish, usually a po' boy, with a substitution of their fabulous, addictive french fries.

Friendly staff and tasty BBQ, not your garden variety Northeast version of chicken slathered in grocery store sauce. Great dry rubs and in-house sauce. Maybe some Texans or Carolinians (is that the right term?) might find fault, but I thought it was tasty -- and judging from my buddies' plates so did they. Great place for a Pre-Nokia theatre show dinner. Very nice, friendly and attentive service, and very tasty food. Thank you. The freebie Cointreau Margarita wasn't bad either.

I was born and raised in Texas, so normally I don't like BBQ outside of that state but this was very good. We will be going there again.

Great BBQ at a reasonable price. Also good if you are in a hurry. Situated perfectly for pre theater.

It was a very typical American restaurant and we enjoyed very much this atmosphere. Very convenient considering the location very close to Times Square in New York City. The waiter was very kind. I suggest this restaurant to Europeans who want to try southern American cooking.

The barbeque shrimp is terrific and so are the banana pudding and chocolate chess pie.

We had a great time at Virgil's! Our group morphed from 8 to 10 and ultimately 13 people, and the folks at Virgil's were very accommodating and very pleasant. The service was great, the food yummy, the atmosphere fun. It was the beginning of a very, very fun evening for all of us (but I do recommend a long walk after you eat to help burn off the oh so yummy calories! :)

Seated very quickly. This was on a Tuesday at 5:30 PM. Our server, Mike, was very attentive. Food was served at the table fast and extremely hot. Best ribs I've ever had and the portions were huge! Although my boyfriend was not familiar with the Georgia-style chicken fried steak, he enjoyed his choice immensely. The side orders were small but tasty. We were not planning on taking doggy-bags out of the restaurant but there was no way I would leave those Memphis dry rub ribs uneaten! Best barbecued ribs!

Virgil's was great, the food was very good and the service excellent. Thank you for making my friend's birthday dinner a great success.

Dear Cathy: Thank you for a great dining experience! The teens and mothers thoroughly enjoyed the meal — everything was superb — they raved about the entire meal and especially loved the dessert sampler! Carlos and Megan were wonderful, very attentive and key in our getting in and out on time for our event.
